@WIshntoboutside wrote: Other can be great skimmers but if they are used and need parts you are screwed with deltec.. Tunze is a whole other story. Tank rating ?Anything from 50g to 200g would work. I personally like to use oversized skimmers because of heavy bioload and my feeding habits.

We can trade for one of your frags? 😀 Besides - exception of the big tank, I’ve gone skimmerless, cause I’m too lazy! lolI really appreciate it, but I’m holding out for the two brands I listed. I think it’s more for nostalgic reasons, but simplicity of their designs as well. My son and I are compiling a list of the frogs he wants to sell, so I’ll probably post them at some point.

@ATAquariums wrote: Deltec is now mostly refashioned jeabo products, which work, but you shouldn’t be paying for Deltec when getting jeabo. If anyone wants Tunze I can get it direct for a little under wholesale.I think 10 years ago I would be concerned about Jebao pumps, but not now. I have a used 600i, which I really like and an older 1351 with an aquabee pump that just keeps going. I agree that the newer Deltec skimmers are probably overpriced, but I love their simplicity and lack of multiple parts.

It’s paying for brand names now.

It’s paying for brand names now.I’m actually using an aquamaxx with upgraded Jebao dc pump now, but it’s taking up a lot of room. I’m also looking for used primarily. I also have a source for NOS aquabee pumps too. I like RO skimmers, I think they are probably the overall best value for what you get and the Varios pumps are solid. The simple design of both the Deltec and Tunze really speak to me. And for those who want a nice budget ac skimmer, the Aqua vitro division skimmers with recirculating kit are hard to beat.

Ro has 2 really good lines (classic, and regal), older deltec is good, but you do lose out on energy consumption. The new Tunze will be pretty cool. I would get one if I was in the market for a larger skimmer. Used the stream 3 body with all the features from before.
