New to the Hobby

Hey, everyone... I am new to the hobby and I am confused about water changes. Some ppl swear by it and some ppl seem extremely cheap and lazy. Which is the better way to go? Also my LFS runs their tanks @ 1.019 with copper but I can't seem to grow any corals when I do that... Is it my lighting? My tank is a 20g long, it has a bunch of hair algae... I think I am going to add a bunch of tangs as a clean up crew. Hopefully that will help, I want to find some big ones with an appetite... cause I have so much hair algae.

Oh btw: LFS runs at 1.019 and copper for disease control in fish. I doubt that corals do well in that environment, unless theyโ€™re farming aiptasias. Those suckers can grow on sandโ€ฆon the Sahara! lol

Finally, cheap and lazy reefers not doing water changes? Uhm โ€” you already know itโ€™s me, no need to beat around the bush! ๐Ÿ˜
