IM25 Lagoon

IM25 Lagoon

It all started one morning when I looked into my Biocube 16G and saw my paired clownfish yearning for a larger home. After some consideration, I decided to give them a larger space, a IM25 lagoon. The goal was to have the tank setup before RAP, more real estate for my inevitable purchases... Here we are a week after, better late than never. I'm glad I was able to take my time and prevent redoing work. The tank got wet this week, and I'll be transferring the livestock this weekend (and maybe get some more fish). Here's the journey so far:

The light is really slick and certainly an overkill for the tank at 120W. I'll update the build with my experience with the light along with some PAR data. Initial impressions are overall positive, however the kassray app only supports iPhone atm, and programming a custom light schedule is quite tedious. You basically have to configure each channel of the lights for every hour of the day one-by-one.

Oh, the other cool thing about the kassray panel light, there's very limited shadowing. One of the nits so far is that the panel currently sits about 8-inches about the water line, because the lagoon is so shallow the individual lights don't have the depth the blend the colors together effectively. This means that you can see light separation if you look at the projected shadows.

What kind of rock did you use for the aquascape? Did you pick up anything at RAP?

I picked up a couple pieces of the dry fiji pukani rock at RAP, rest of the rock is the man-made real reef rock and a caribsea life base rock used from other tanks.

That sounds pretty annoying to setup!

I changed lights relatively recently as well. Lights are great. App sucks. Good news is in general, once you set it, you can forget it Unless you do lots of photos... Then.. well...

this is true, hoping I set the intensity accordingly. we'll see if the uglies manifest themselves on the tank
