We've built a great 80/20 stand builder so you can see quickly how to build it out. https://westcoastreefers.com/stand-builder

I wish if there’s a “template” (or AI bot) that will order for me? I just want a 48x24x30 stand — show me what I need to order as a KIT??? There's a site that has that, but you pay major tax for them to do it for you. I'm almost there on pulling the trigger

Been doing the research on a 5ft tank. Ultimately 80/20 is the choice. You can always customize and add to it easily and esp for a 12ft tank, it's an investment knowing you'll never have to change it out or replace it if you build it right. Initial cost is high for sure and still have to figure out how to skin it, but I think you'll be able to easily figure that one out

    > @Drexl wrote: > I’m not sure, it might work? Personally I would feel comfortable if the edges/sides were partially supported directly below, but I’m not sure about the physics? If the stand was steel or aluminum, probably safe, but for wood stands, I want complete support. I think the reason why all of the Red Sea tanks fail, it’s because the front panel is completely unsupported. I think if the material you use has enough mass/strength, then it could work. Gotcha makes sense. It is an extruded aluminum stand and the tank did leak lol. I believe the bigger issue is red sea's silicone is terrible as their g2 tanks still leaked with their stand "fix"

    > @Drexl wrote: > I drilled and tapped the legs so I could add leveling feet, which I find necessary for a nice level stand. You can wrap the stand with expanded PVC panels and they make them in all different colors. There’s plenty of hardware for attaching the panels. Def will add leveling feet. I found a red sea stand where the tank leaked. But it's only 24wide and the tank is 26 wide.... wondering if I put plywood or marble/granite on top that 1" will be ok each side.... 🤔

Maybe once the big guys come out with one, the AquaWiz will drop in price. I also heard the AquaWiz UI leaves a lot to be desired, maybe the next generation will be cheaper and more polished 🤞 > > I believe the AquaWiz also requires a third-party alk tester to set the baseline when setting up. Since it keeps track of alk based on pH changes, you need to supply the initial alk reading from a salifert test for example. We should clone it and build a new UI 🤣. The math and testing isn't that hard.... it really is like a $200 product tbh

My last trip to Seattle we got to visit the aquarium there, they focused more on the ecosystem around them, but recently opened their tropical building which had some cool exhibits with an area you could see their large tropical tank from top down. Overall I'd say a 7/10 Love the National Aquarium in Maryland, they have a huge tank with tons of tropical fish that you can look down on, I could have stood there for hours watching the fish. Unfortunately when I was there, they didn't have any coral systems. 7/10 Georgia aquarium is a MUST, their whale shark exhibit is INCREDIBLE. I think they are down to only 1 whale shark now so go before that one expires. We probably sat in front of the whale shark tank for 2 hours. We also did the shark behind the scenes tour and learned a lot about their leopard shard rehabilitation program. 10/10 Video and pic is from the Georgia Aquarium whale shark tank.
